Federated Church - A Brief History

Our history actually reaches back to the time our territory was opened for settlement. Just 36 days after the "run" on April 22, 1889 the Presbyterian Church began in Kingfisher. In August 1900 the Evangelical Church in Kingfisher was organized. In 1950 a group of lay members of the First Presbyterian Church and the Evangelical Reformed Church, now the United Church of Christ, met to consider federating into one congregation. Articles of Federation were developed and on January 6, 1951 the first worship service of The Federated Church was held. Plans for a new building and the purchase of property at 9th and Fay Avenue paved the way for the existence of our present structure, which was dedicated on May 31, 1953. The Education Building was added in 1963. July of 2014, The Federated Church terminated the affiliation with Presbyterian Church USA and United Church of Christ.
